FAQ

The Ins And Outs of How We Do Business

  • My inverter has an error, does this mean there is something wrong with the inverter?"
Not always. There is a high possibility that it is not the inverter, and it is something else on the roof that the inverter is detecting.
  • Why would there be critters on my roof?
Critters are one of the main causes on why a system is under-producing or failing. They chew and nest under the panels and destroy systems and roofs.
  • Is the "mandatory meter" and a monitoring system the same thing?"
No. Monitoring your system is separate,. This allows you/Power Overhaul to personally track your production as well as make sure your system is producing optimally at all times.
  • Does PO set up SRECS.
No, but we can send you the link on where to go to set them up or provide contact info on someone who can help.
  • What is provided in a cleaning and inspection?
Full system inspection, cleaning of panels, cleaning of debri in vents and boxes, written report, and more!
  • Why do I need an inspection first?
There are so many aspects of a solar system and so many things that could be causing the failure. We cannot pinpoint and schedule a repair until we inspect and find out exactly what is wrong.
  • If you find something wrong with my system or equipment, will your company be able to perform the repairs?"
Yes, Power Overhaul services and repairs all aspects of the solar system and will be able to repair your system.
  • The last company that came out to inspect replaced a fuse in my inverter. Why is it failing again?
Replacing a fuse is a temporary fix. When fuse is blown, it is usually due to a ground fault which will need to be repaired or else the fuse will leep blowing.
  • Why does it cost so much to repair a ground fault?
In most cases, our technicians have to lift each and every panel to find the location of the ground fault to repair it.
  • What is an inverter?
The inverter is the part of the array that produces usable AC power. Without the inverter, the modules are useless for grid-tied applications. The inverter is typically found mounted on an interior wall near the main service panel, or on the exterior of the home. Typical dimensions are about 2' wide by 3' tall.
